Thanks for taking the time to talk with me today
about your Gold X product. Thank you for taking
seriously my suggesting of possibly adding an
iPod tip. The reason we like your Gold X product
is that while traveling, we have the capability
of the 5 tips without having five different
wires. As everyone I know has an iPod, adding an
iPod tip would be one less wire we'd have to
carry. (NOTE: I think there are only two
different iPod connections: the older one and
the newer one. I'd buy them both as I am sure
many others would too.) I wish you and your
company great success. Thank you for listening.

..... Not only have they come in handy here in
the Studio, but we now also carry
them with us on all our Remote Broadcasts!

Re: GoldX Brand and White Box Patch Panel
Yes, I liked the durability and the angled punch
for stability. It also looked like it has a
feature for a door/cover hinge option for the
RJ45 jacks. It's a whole lot sexier than
the Comscope / Systemax / Lucent patch panel I
saw the other day. I will start making inventory
items out of this stuff. Thanks for your help!

"I just purchase QuickConnect kit for USB --- I
like to know if I can buy extra connectors for
it and approx price or from whom. I love
this kit."
Bob Tiedemann - Purchasing Agent
Dear Sir or Madam, I have two pair of your
Quick Connect USB cables. They are an excellent
product and I intend to buy more as I use a
great deal of USB gear. I am an instructor
engineer for Cisco Systems and I travel
extensively by air. Recently I have started
using small USB 2.5 inch hard drives with my
laptop while on long flights to watch DIVX
movies and carry my extensive music
collection... ... I have very carefully
measured this and I would be happy to purchase
these direct from you at any price. Also, I am
sure that USB Quick Connects in this length
would sell and I would be most happy to show
them off to all 400 people in my department at
Cisco. Thanks for your attention to this, I sure
appreciate it. ..."

"I have ordered your excellent QuickConnect USB
cables (three sets, actually, so I'll be able to
share) which should solve my problem nicely...
Thank you ..."

"Bought the 'QuickConnect FireWire" Cables today
from Radio Shack. Great Product!! Thanks."
Roy R. -- Greenwood, Nova Scotia, Canada
"Just wanted to drop you guys a line and say how
much I am impressed by your new Gold-X Cables for
USB and FireWire.
It is a great relief to be able to find a
product that meets or exceeds my expectations.
I especially like the versatility of your Quick
Connect 5-in-1 cabling. It lets me choose my
connection. Also the adapters fit firmly into the
connector end. Not like some other products that
feel loose when you adapt them. Also your packaging
is easy to open. Most molded plastic packaging ...
for the most part "Adult Proof". It usually takes a
pair of tin snips just to open the darn things. Your
stuff on the other hand is easy to tear open. Which
saves me the frustration of trying to get the
packaging open without damaging the product inside.
I have just started using your products after seeing
them at the Hollywood, CA Pacific Radio Electronics
Store. These Gold-X 5in1's are my new cable of
choice when extending USB, connecting devices, and
hooking up FireWire devices. Great Job on the new
cables!"

"Hello, I purchased the Quick Connect several
months ago and am very happy with the quality
and convenience."

Good morning, I'd like to express my
appreciation for your GoldXProducts. I
have the Firewire connect kit and it is great.
I need 2 or 3 more!....
Brian W. Williams
Good morning. I'd like to express my
appreciation for your GoldX Products. I have the
FireWire connect kit and it is great. I need 2
or 3 more. Yesterday I was setting up at a shoot
and BENT the 4-pin connector. I am not even sure
how, but there it was bent in the DVD recorder.
How can I get a replacement 4-pin connector?
Good afternoon. I cannot tell you how pleasantly
surprised I was when I opened the box expecting
a single 4-pin connector - and finding a whole,
brand spankin' new set. Christmas in May!
Thank you very much for your attention to
customer support. Most companies espouse
customer satisfaction but do nothing more than
lip service to gain loyalty. You have shown to
be in that minority.
A loyal customer - Brian
I received the two connectors, one works perfect
with my digital camera. One less cable to lug
around! Many thanks.

Our company manufactures, sells, and maintains
embroidery machines. We re-sell the GoldX
GXMU-1200 DB9-Serial adapter to many of our
customers as an option to, or in the absence of
a straight serial connection. I am senior
support engineer for this company and I have
talked with ALL of our customers at one time or
another. I have addressed literally hundreds of
USB connectivity issues. In 90% of the cases the
user had a USB/Serial adapter that could not
support large downloads from their computer to
our machine. I had each customer purchase a
GXMU-1200 which resolved 100% of the issues. The
remaining percentage were users that either did
not install the driver, or used the Windows XP
generic USB driver. In each of these cases,
installing the correct driver resolved 100% of
the issues. I personally have recommended your
cable over Belkin, I/O Gear, ICCW, and Tandy
(RS).

Per our conversation on 12/22/04, I am sending you the
results of our testing of the GXMU-120x products. This is an
excellent product; I am very impressed!
We make a data acquisition system,... which communicates
over RS-232. We are about to introduce the next generation
of this product which communicates over MODBUS RTU which is
a serial protocol which prefers to use the RS-485 interface
but can also use the RS-232 interface. ... We wanted
to offer a USB alternative for those customers whose PC's
only have USB ports. So we began testing a variety of
dongles.
MODBUS RTU has very stringent timing requirements so we
knew the dongle had to have some special hardware, firmware
and software driver design attributes. MODBUS RTU requires
the spacing between characters be <= 1.5 microseconds and
spacing between messages >= 3.5 microseconds, otherwise it
would abort communication. Of the five different dongles I
tested, only the GXMU-120x operated over 2.4Kbps to
115.2Kbps with and without parity. The others wouldn't
communicate above 2.4Kbps or 9.6Kbps with parity but would
communicate over 2.4Kbps to 115.2Kbps without parity. A
couple would communicate over 2.4Kbps to 115.2Kbps without
parity only. All communicated over RS-232 from 2.4Kbps to
115.2Kbps with and without parity.
The next tests I tried were with the GXMU-120x only.
I ran a test with a USB hub with a 115.2Kbps with parity
MODBUS RTU data stream, a 38.4Kbps test data stream, a USB
mouse moving around, and downloading a huge file (32MB) into
a flash drive. The GXMU-120x came through with flying
colors. Apparently its software and that of the hub, the PC
USB port, and other devices was able to handle all the USB
traffic. I also left all the devices connected to the hub
and ran the two data streams over a 24 hour period without a
stoppage.
Lastly, I tested the GXMU-120x in the oven. I chilled it
to -10 degrees C, -40 degrees C, -45 degrees C, and finally
to -55 degrees C with MODBUS RTU data running at 115.2Kbps
with parity. At each temperature, I stopped the data stream,
powered down the GXMU-120x and let it soak for a ˝ hour to
chill it through and then powered it up and restarted the
data stream. It came up operating just fine each time. Then
I ran the temperature up to +85 degrees C. I could do this
because from previous experience, I knew the ABS case would
not warp over a longer term, but would warp at 90 degrees C
in two hours. The GXMU-120x continued to communicate. I also
tried the power down and restart; that also worked. I tested
four other GXMU-120x devices at -55 degrees C and +85
degrees C. They all passed the stop/start tests at each
temperature.
I hope this gives you some insight into what an excellent
product you have in the GXMU-120x. I think it may have
something to do with the 256Byte transmit and receive
buffers it has. Don't let them change that aspect or if they
want to, have them test it with MODBUS RTU and other finicky
industrial protocols.

Just got a QuickConnect Cable at Staples....Love
it! Are extra Connectors available? If so, where
can I get them.

It appears to me that GoldX products have the
quality that I really want ... I would like one
day for GoldX to sell short 8" or 12" USB
cables. There is only one web site selling short
cables, and they do not appear to have the same
quality as yours ... I would be delighted to own
a GoldX product. I do believe that your products
are top notch ... I am very thankful to you for
your kindness and clear professionalism. There
are not too many good folks like you in this
world. At least, we need many more.

All of our tests were highly successful. We
connected four of our commercial embroidery
machines via GXMU-1200 9-pin to serial adapters
to two of the GXSU-104 1.1 USB Full Speed (1.1)
hubs powered by the GXSB-7555 Power Core Base.
Two of the GXMU-1200 9-pin to serial adapters
were daisy-chained to multiple RS232 serial
cables to test transmission rate over various
lengths. The computer used in the test is
running Win 98SE with 64megs of RAM.
We sent an enormous design file to each one in series.
Download time averaged forty-four seconds per file per
machine regardless of cable length. We then ran all four
machines simultaneously, non-stop, for six hours to monitor
telemetry and each machine reported on time. We then
activated various commands from our software that cause
changes in machine operation on the fly and each event went
to each machine successfully with no delay in the telemetry
of the other machines. With these tests successful, we
created a design file 10x larger then our test file and
repeated above tests with a 100% success rate.
This is significant to us because many of our customers
complain of downloads failing when they send large design
files (nothing as large as we used in testing) to our
machines when connected to a USB hub. As I stated
previously; we believe this is due to lack of power at the
hub. We began recommending that our customers purchase
powered hubs as a resolution for this problem, but in many
cases people bought cheap after-market devices and continued
having download failures. Another concern for us was packet
loss and/or delay in response time from the machine to the
computer. We have many "on the fly" commands available in
our software that the user can initiate to change something
at the machine such as change motor speeds, move the
pantograph, adjust solenoid positions and timings, changed
needle position and the list goes on. When communication
issues exist, these "on the fly" commands will inevitably
crash. "For every action there is a re-action" and when a
command is initiated we expect a time-sensitive response
from the machine.
All in all I congratulate GoldX and JDI on the Power Core
Base. We are confident this will offer a final solution to
many of our customers who have communication issues. I
regret that I do not have any type of bandwidth or packet
stream data to offer.

I have a USB serial port adapter by Belkin but
Dell support says that the GoldX is more
reliable. I need it to operate a large gate at a
storage facility. I need reliability. . . . This
was sent to me from Dell, acquired from customer
reports. Various customers reported their
success with adapters for this purpose. Those
using the GoldX reported success and
reliability. Those using the Belkin reported
sporadic success.
Thank You, Henri Ann
You and I were recently sending each
other several e-mails late in the
evening as you were travelling. It
was then when you kindly accepted to
take my order for one GX-3006.
Today, Tuesday 20th., I received it.
Thank you so very much for such a
fine piece. It is EXACTLY what I
wanted. Just as if your company
would have made it to my
specifications.
WOW !
Please, allow me to take a couple of minutes off
your busy schedule. I only intend to pass my
experience on to you in the hope that it may
serve you. In the days before we were in
contact, I can assert that I spent great many
hours and efforts in an attempt to locate what
the GX-3006 delivers.
I wanted a well made quality hub, small if
possible, and with a short cable that allows me
to attach it to a USB 2.2 port. I did not want
to carry a bigger unit such as D-Link DUB H4.
Although an excellent hub, it is not only
bigger, but it does need an adaptor plugged in
an 120V AC outlet; and it sports this humongous
6 feet long cable. I am positive to say
that a great number of folks out there are on
the same boat with me. They need to take their
laptops to places where there is no AC power,
and they need only to attach a Flash Drive, a
wireless mouse, or some other low power device
to a hub which is going to sit right next to
their laptops' USB port. Small and
without 10 - 12' jungle of cables around the
laptop. The reason why I am telling you
all of this is because I have spent almost two
weeks looking for a unit like the one you sent
me. There is nothing out there that could match
even close what the GX-3006 is. Certainly not
with a reputable name on it that spells quality
such as GoldX, 24Karat contacts, and even
quality cable that has foil and it is shielded
to prevent EMI-RFI emissions. This hub
definitely is up to the quality of my brand new
IBM T43. I concluded that you may gear
your business toward a sector of the market
which does not include people like me and those
I described above. Should I be wrong on my
assumptions, why is it then that the GX-3006 is
not flooding the Internet ? I cannot understand
it. Thousands of folks like me would be
delighted if I would show them what I have right
now sitting on my desk next to me. Okay, I do
not want to keep you reading forever. I only
wanted for you to have the view of someone out
there that was lucky to become a GoldX user and
customer. I hope the time I took away from you
serves a good purpose.
